Test automation has been an acknowledged software engineering best practice for years. However, the topic involves more than the repeated execution of test cases that often comes first to mind. Simply running test cases using a unit testing framework is no longer enough for test automation to keep up with the ever-shorter release cycles driven by continuous deployment and technological innovations such as microservices and DevOps pipelines. Now test automation needs to rise to the next level by going beyond mere test execution. The NEXTA workshop will explore how to advance test automation to further contribute to software quality in the context of tomorrow’s rapid release cycles. Take-aways for industry practitioners and academic researchers will encompass test case generation, automated test result analysis, test suite assessment and maintenance, and infrastructure for the future of test automation.

ICST 2018 is intended to provide a common forum for researchers, scientists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to present their latest research findings, ideas, developments and applications in the area of Software Testing, Verification and Validation. ICST 2018 will include keynote addresses by eminent scientists as well as special, regular and poster sessions. All research papers will be peer reviewed on the basis of a full length manuscript and acceptance will be based on quality, originality and relevance. Accepted research papers will be published in the conference proceedings with an IEEE catalog number and ISBN number. The proceedings will be submitted for publication in IEEE Xplore.

Event Details
Technical debt describes a universal software development phenomenon: design or implementation constructs that are expedient in the short term but set up a technical context that can make future changes more costly or impossible. Software developers and managers increasingly use the concept to communicate key tradeoffs related to release and quality issues. The goal of this two-day conference is to bring together leading software researchers, practitioners, and tool vendors to explore theoretical and practical techniques that manage technical debt.
The Managing Technical Debt workshop series has provided a forum since 2010 for practitioners and researchers to discuss issues related to technical debt and share emerging practices used in software-development organizations. A week-long Dagstuhl Seminar on Managing Technical Debt in Software Engineering has produced a consensus definition for technical debt, a draft conceptual model, and a research roadmap.

INTUITESTBEDS is a merge of two workshops with very similar goals and topics, INTUITEST – 4th International Workshop on User Interface Test Automation, and TESTBEDS – 8th International Workshop on TESting Techniques for event BasED Software.
The workshop will have a joint program committee peer-reviewing all the submissions. There will be separate tracks for longer research papers focusing on novelty and shorter industry track papers focusing on practical impact. As automated testing is very tool dependent, the aim is to have a separate tools track with live or video demonstrations.
The workshop aims to bring together the researchers, practitioners and tool developers working on topics related to the:
1) automated testing of applications through the user interfaces, including but not limited to graphical user interfaces, user interfaces of mobile devices and applications, and user interfaces of web applications, and
2) testing of other types of event-driven software, such as network protocols, embedded software, IoT applications and devices, web services and device drivers.

The ACM Joint European Software Engineering Conference and Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (ESEC/FSE) is an internationally renowned forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and challenges in the field of software engineering. Formerly the FSE conference in alternating years and ESEC/FSE in other years, ESEC/FSE is now the new name of this annual conference series. The ESEC/FSE conference brings together experts from academia and industry to exchange the latest research results and trends, as well as their practical application in all areas of software engineering.

A-TEST workshop aims to provide a venue for researchers as well as the industry to exchange and discuss trending views, ideas, state of the art work in progress, and scientific results on Automated Testing.
Modern software teams seek a delicate balance between two opposing forces: striving for reliability and striving for agility. Software teams need tools to strike the right balance by increasing the development speed without sacrificing quality. Automated testing tools play an important role in obtaining this balance.
A-TEST has successfully run 8 editions since 2009. During the 2017 edition, that was also co-located at ESEC/FSE. We introduced hands-on sessions where testing tools can be studies in depth. Due to the many positive reactions we received, this year we will have them again!
